Doctor

  • John F Weatherston , D.V.M.


    Dr. Weatherston graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science and  then entered the Ontario Veterinary College. He graduated in 1976 and  received the Stinson Award for large animal obstetrics. Dr. Weatherston grew up on a dairy farm in Flamborough and was actively involved with Wentworth Junior Farmers and 4-H clubs. He has also won awards at local and international ploughing matches and is currently a member of the Hamilton Wentworth Farmer’s Association.

     

    Dr. Weatherston has worked at the Dundas Animal Hospital, since 1976 providing veterinary care for beef, dairy and equine clients.

     

    Membereships: He is a member of the OVMA, CVMA, HAVM, the American Association of Equine Practitioners and is certified with the Ontario Racing Commission.

     

    Pets etc.: Dr. Weatherston and his family live in Greensville, with their dog Bronte, who is lab/retriever cross that was rescued 10 yrs. ago.  He has also owned, raised and raced standardbred horses.

     

    Hobbies & Interests: Hockey has been one of his life long passions, and he continues to play in an old-timers league, and in alumni and veterinary tournaments. When the snow melts, Dr. Weatherston puts the hockey stick away and gets out his golf clubs. Other interests include sailing and family camping at Kilbear Provincial Park. Dr. Weatherston has also been a  supporter of Theatre Aquarius for over 15 yrs.

  • Bruce N Robinson , D.V.M.


    Dr. Bruce Robinson graduated in the class of 1976 at the Ontario Veterinary College. After graduating he practiced for four years in Renfrew County with both companion animals and farm animals. He then joined The Dundas Animal Hospital in 1980 and became a partner in 1981. Dr. Robinson has a special interest in farm animals but still enjoys small animals.
     
    Memberships: OVMA, CVMA, HAVM, OABP (Ontario Association of Bovine Practioners)
     
    Pets: Dr. Robinson has a dog named Parker and owns four cats; Gracie, Mikey, Springer & Keeper.
     
    Hobbies & Interests: In his spare time, Dr. Robinson enjoys golf, hockey and playing the guitar.

  • Roxana L Waldes-Wice , D.V.M.


    Dr. Waldes-Wice obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph in 1981 before graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1985. Upon graduation she joined the Dundas Animal Hospital, caring for both companion and farm animals for the first five years and later dedicating herself to caring for companion animals. She is currently practicing part-time to devote more time to her family.
     
    Pets: Dr. Waldes-Wice a himalayan cat named Blue and a 3 year old border Collie named Guiness.
     
    Hobbies & Interests: Enjoys all crafts including stained glass, card making, music and reading. Dr. Waldes-Wice is looking forward to training her new puppy and loves spending time with her husband Brent and their young son and daughter.

  • Kelly A Ciggaar , D.V.M.


    Dr. Kelly Ciggaar obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in 1997 before graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2001. She joined the Dundas Animal Hospital after graduation, caring for both companion and large animals.
     
    Memberships: Ontario Veterinary Medical Association, Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, Hamilton Academy of Veterinary Medicine.
     
    Pets: Leroy is a 4 year old Beagle who was brought in to our clinic as a stray and rescued by Dr. Ciggaar, she took him home for the weekend and he never left! Myles, a 3 year old Border Collie cross is a flyball dog, and Dice (Myles daughter) is a 2 year old cross is also a part of the flyball team.
     
    Hobbies & Interests: In her spare Dr. Ciggaar enjoys camping, reading and hiking.

  • Pat J McClure , D.V.M.


    Dr. McClure graduated in 1988 from the Ontario Veterinary College. For the next five years she moved around South Western Ontario following her husband Andrew's career. During that time she had the opportunity to work at various clinics in Tillsonburg, Woodstock and Cambridge. As well, during this time she completed the McClure clan with her three sons. She practiced for eight years at the Brantford Veterinary Clinic and joined the Dundas Animal Hospital in October 2001.
     
    Memberships: Member of the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association and has achieved this association's voluntary standard of veterinary continuing education for the last 6 years. Also a member of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, and the Hamilton Academy of Veterinary Medicine.
     
    Pets: Dr. McClure has two cats - Sassy and Syd. Dr. McClure says she loves her cats but adores her dog Rosie. She is an eight year old Golden Retriever who always brightens up even the saddest days at the clinic for her.
     
    Hobbies & Interests: Dr. McClure says: My three very active teenage sons keep me very busy with their snowboarding, hockey and soccer. However I manage to find time to keep my extensive perennial garden and with my husband's help, restore our 120 year old Victorian home. We also love to sail on our 25 foot sailboat, the Luna Quest, which is moored in Hamilton Harbour. (Okay, he sails and I help!)

  • Dr. Shawn M Middleton , D.V.M. , B.Sc. (Zoology)


    Dr. Middleton joined our practice in  May of 2004.  He provides veterinary care for our clients companion and farm animals. Dr. Middleton graduated with honours in Zoology from the University of Western Ontario in April, 1998 and then went on to graduate from the Ontario Veterinary College in April 2004 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. 

    Memberships:  Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), Ontario Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA), Ontario Association of Bovine Practicioners (OABP) and the Hamilton Academy of Veterinary Medicine.

    Pets:  Dr. Middleton has 2 cats at home, Shadow and Bo.  He also has a  yellow labrador named Star.   

    Hobbies and Interests:  In his spare time Dr. Middleton enjoys curling, hiking, camping, cycling, gardening and golfing.  Most of his time is spent with his two daughters, Sarah (5 years) and Julia (3 years), and his wife Chrim.

Technician

  • Tammy Frank , R.V.T.


    Tammy graduated from the Veterinary Technician Program at Centralia College in 1984 and has worked at the Dundas Animal Hospital ever since. She lives on a farm in Caledonia with her 2 dogs and husband Henry. She has a special interest in dog obedience and operates "Start Me Up" dog obedience training, where she teaches classes in obedience training. 
     
    Memberships: Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (OAVT)
     
    Pets: Tammy has two red and white border collie dogs.  Jag is  4 years old and Quest is just over a year old. 
     
    Hobbies & Interests: Tammy has a passion for Flyball - Instant Replay Flyball Team, and has recently discovered a new interest in Agility. She also teaches  dog obedience classes  and enjoys camping,  which she loves to do with her dogs.

  • Valerie Ranger , V.T.


    Valerie grew up on a farm near Tavistock. She graduated from the Centralia College Veterinary Technician Program in 1984. She worked for one year at a small animal clinic in Toronto before she joined the Dundas Animal Hospital.
     
     
    Pets: Val grew up with many pets - dogs, cats, squirrels, cows and even some geese and chickens. She now has one dog, a 11 year old Yellow Labrador Retriever named Treat.
     
    Hobbies & Interests: Although she is kept very busy with her two children and their hobbies - hockey, dance and soccer, she still manages to find some time to take part in some of her varied interests such as gardening, knitting, reading and spending time with her husband Mike.

  • Lisa Colborne , R.V.T.


    Lisa started at the Dundas Animal Hospital as a high school co-op student, which lead to a part time job opportunity until she went to college. She continued to work part time doing kennel duties as well as reception work during her college years. Lisa graduated from Centralia, College in the Veterinary Technician Program in 1992 and wrote her registration exams right after graduation. Lisa started working full time with the Dundas Animal Hospital as a Registered Veterinary Technician (R.V.T.) in May 1992.    

     

    Memberships: Lisa has maintained her membership in the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians since graduation.

    She is also a certified canine masseuse.

     

    Pets: She lives in Flamborough with her husband, daughter and her dog 2 dogs.  Logan is a 7 year old lab cross, and  Nevada a 2 year old jack russell cross that is also a part of the flyballteam.

  • Kim Hines , R.V.T.


    Kim graduated from the Animal Care Program at Sheridan College in 1999. She then went on to the Veterinary Technician Program at Seneca College and graduated in 2003 as a registered veterinary technician. Before and while attending college, Kim worked and volunteered at various veterinary clinics (including ours!) and gained 7 years of practical experience before she joined The Dundas Animal Hospital upon her graduation in May, 2003.
     
    Memberships: Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (OAVT)
     
    Pets: Kim has two cats Stanley & Hogan.  She also has a 4 year old rottweiler named Brooklyn that was rescued from the SPCA.
     
    Hobbies & Interests: Kim enjoys walking her dog, camping, rollerblading and spending time with her husband.

  • Mary Grace Harris , Tech Assistant


    Mary Grace first joined our hospital as a volunteer when she was just 15 years of age. After graduating from high school, Mary took a course in livestock management and has worked on a dairy farm for almost 5 years. She was hired on at our hospital in August 1999 and worked her way up to her present position as a Technician's Assistant.
     
    Pets:  A love bird named Papaya, a cockatiel named Ruffles, three cats named Peek-a boo, Paxton, and Pizza, two dogs - Freddie Bear, a Pembroke Corgie and Castaway, a Border Collie / Terrier Cross.
     
    Hobbies & Interests: Castaway is on a flyball team called Instant Replay. Mary loves horses and started to horseback riding lessons in March 2003.

Reception

  • Debbie Garland


    Debbie joined our hospital in September of 1990. She has over 20 years of reception experience, 13 of which have been in a veterinary clinic. She is also responsible for the Accounts Receivable of the hospital.
     
     
    Pets: Two dogs -  Duke is an 11 year old Black Labrador and Score is a 7 month old puppy that has recently joined the family.  He is also a black lab. SHe also has a 13 year old cat named Max.
     
    Hobbies & Interests: Debbie has 3 children (Tyler, Kylie & Mitchell) and enjoys spending time with her family and getting them to their sports (baseball & hockey), rollerblading, reading and enjoying her pets when she is home.

  • Justinne Campbell


    Justinne joined  the Dundas Animal Hospital in March 2001. Her previous experience includes 9 years at the Cancer clinic, 5 years at an optometry practice, 2 years at a chiropractic practice and 9 years as the manager of a thoroughbred horse farm. Justinne feels she has found her niche here at the Dundas Animal Hospital.
     
    Pets: Justine has a 3 year old German Shepherd named Sampras, and a 7 year old cat - Timmy, and a Miller a stray cat that found her and never left. 
     
    Hobbies & Interests: Justinne has ridden horses since she was seven years old. She has competed at International Level Dressage shows and has coached for many years.

  • Laura Andrews


    Laura  owned and operated a boarding kennel for dogs & cats before joining the Dundas Animal Hospital in August 2001. Previous to  this, she worked as a veterinary receptionist in Welland for four years. 
     
    Pets: Laura has 2 Black Labradors - Docker and Carbon & one cat named Festus.
     
    Hobbies & Interests: Spending leisure time with pets and enjoying time at her cottage.

Kennel

  • Jennifer Smith


    Jen joined our team of animal attendants in September of 2000. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in 2002 and is currently attending Mohawk College and is enrolled in the Social Service Worker Program. Jen hopes to make a difference in people's lives and encourage others to do the same.
     
    Pets: Jen has a yorkshire terrier named Toby.
     
    Hobbies & Interests: Jen loves to play baseball, read, hang out with her friends and shop.

  • Shannon Elliott


    Shannon started at the hospital as a volunteer in July 1999.  She then completed a co-op semester from September until January.  In November 1999 she goined out team as an animal care attendant and has been with us ever since.  She also has experience working with horses at a ranch, and has worked at the African Lion Safari with various animals for the past 4 years.
     
    Pets  Shannon has 2 dogs - Mikah is an 11 year old border collie and Holly is a 6 year old mixed breed.  She also has 4 cats named Yoda, Gizmo, D.W., and Skinny.
     
    Hobbies and Interests  In her spare time Shannon enjoys spending time with her animals, reading, and listening to music.

  • Kristina Dudley


    Kristina joined our team in the summer of 2005.  She is currently enrolled in the honours biology program at McMaster University, with plans to attend the University of Guelph and become a veterinarian.
     
    Pets   Kristina has one cat named K.C.
     
    Hobbies and Intrests   In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her cat, playing soccer, swimming and spending time with friends.

  • Karleigh Veevers


    Karleigh started as a co-op student at the Dundas Animal Hospital.  She has now joined our part time kennel assistants, and is helping in our grooming department for the summer.

Grooming

  • Melanie Crowther , I.P.G. Certified


    Melanie joined our clinic in August 1996. She previously worked for the African Lion Safari and initially worked as a veterinary technician assistant at our hospital before pursuing pet grooming full time.
    Melanie is certified at three levels through I.P.G.(International Professional Groomers) and has recently earned her "Master Groomer" status. 
     
    Memberships: Member in good standing of the Ontario Dog Groomers Association (O.D.G.A.), International Professional Groomers (I.P.G.), Equine Canada (E.C.) & Ontario Equestrian Federation (O.E.F.)
     
    Pets: Four horses - Lantro and Mr. E, five cats - Lucy, Luther, Licorice, Canter, Muffin and one Border Collie named Jack.
     
    Hobbies & Interests: Horseback riding, scrapbooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.
